After strong releases by Soichi Terada and Marcello Napoletano, promising globetrotter imprint Gravity Graffiti comes through with three slices of tripped-out ethno-folk and one breakbeat âardkore-inspired chune for good measure. The A sideâs two tracks come courtesy of Yoshinori Hayashi, fresh off excellent outings for Going Good and Lovers Rock. 11-minute slow lurch âSquare Sunâ is the sort of codeine-soaked far-out jazz trip that weâve come to expect from Hayashi, while timestretched rave joint âCoolingâ is a refreshing new course for the Japanese producer. Starting off with some woozy Boards of Canada-esque synths and slowly settling into pure 3AM hands-in-the-air bliss; it should fit snugly in your breakbeat house set sandwiched in between recent burners by Coco Bryce and Person Of Interest. On the flip, mystery man DB.Source offers two fuzzy leftfield tracks laced with West African-inspired percussion and bleeps and bloops reminiscent of Actress.
