I feel like they go together.ā - It seems west coast modern jazz-funkster and bass guitar virtuoso ThundercatĀ has an appreciation forĀ various levels of intoxication.Ā DJ Candlestick and OG Ron C originally chopped & screwedĀ chopped-not-slopped Thundercat's epic 2017 effort pro bono, out of sheer love for the record, and 'Cat andĀ co. loved it so much they've decided to give it the full Brainfeeder double vinyl treatment; on purple colored wax, natch. We first heard of OG Ron C back when he used to chop Drake's albums in record time, often putting them up for free download less than 24 hours after the album release. Drizzy embracedĀ it in much the same way; now most OVO releases are trailed by an official Chopstars chopped-not-slopped version.Ā These tracks have a vintage mixtape feel to them, replete with signature Chopstars drops, syrupy voiceovers, scratching and a gently rearranged tracklist... check out the chopped-not-slopped versions of "Walk On By (feat. Kendrick Lamar)," "Them Changes," "Blackkk" and "Show You The Way (feat. Michael McDonald & Kenny Loggins." Recommended.
