Theo Parrish: Children Of The Drum Vinyl 12"

2007 EP from the Detroit Don repressed. The 3 Chairs influence is tops here, with the simple-yet-funky drums, the soulful female vocals and the live drumming to lace it all together. "I Am These Roots" keeps the Detroit house stylings alive, sounding more like an Omar-S track than Theo Parrish, but I'm not going to complain here. I can already picture Francois K or Theo's 3 Chairs bro Moodymann playing the hell out of this one. On the flip, smooth keys and some stellar percussion accompany the sexy female spoken-word on "Children Of The Drum." But don't get discouraged at the slow build – when that bassline hits, there won't be one butt left in its chair. Deep house gold. Thank you, Mr. Parrish!
