The Veils: Nux Vomica (Music On Vinyl 180g, Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
The Runaway Found was (and still is) a beloved debut from the London indie band fronted by Finn Andrews, and here's the follow up to the 2004 full-length. Two things about Nux Vomica: the first lineup of the Veils had split soon after the release of The Runaway Found (Andrews linked with old friends to record this), and the LP is characterized by a darker, heavier sound, which is in contrast to the dreamier sound that decorates the first full-length. Nux Vomica also features a heavy dose of string arrangements, courtesy of Jane Scarpantoni (of The Lounge Lizards, worked with Lou Reed for a long time). Highlights include: "Jesus For The Jugular," "Under The Folding Branches," "Calliope!," and the title track.
