I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It is the second album from English rock band The 1975. Critics and fans alike adored the record upon its release in 2016, with singles such as “Love Me”, “Ugh!” and “Somebody Else” topping global streaming charts. The band claims D’Angelo, My Bloody Valentine, Boards of Canada and Sigur Ros (among others) as inspiration for the album’s seventeen tracks, and this eclecticism is immediately apparent. “She’s American” starts with muted electronics pushed aside by glittering percussion, frontman Matt Healy’s filtered vocals leaving ample room for funk guitars and a fade-to-black breakdown. “A Change Of Heart” is a lightly melodramatic tugs on the heartstrings, a synth-driven ballad that deserves to be in the New Wave pantheon alongside tunes like Erasure's "A Little Respect" and Tears For Fears "Mad World". “The Sound” is urgent, jittery electronics, gang vocals, and pounding piano stabs.
