Towards The Dream. Steve Roach's 1988 magnum opus gets a proper reissue for its 30th anniversary courtesy of Telephone Explosion Records! Originally released on double CD, Dreamtime Return is widely considered one of the most (if not the most) important works in the electronic multi-instrumentalist's vast catalog - a stunning and fully immersive audio journey that explores the potential that "may lie in bringing our most elusive dreams and ancient memories into focus through potent, highly imaginative soundscapes." Here Roach takes inspiration from the Australian outback, studies of the Aboriginal Dreamtime, and the deserts of California, to take the electro-ethno-atmospheric genre much deeper than it has ever been before. Never before has the primal energy of ancient instruments fused with modern synthesizer drones and subtle shamanic percussion in such a profound way.
