Often compared to her contemporaries Angel Olsen and Soccer Mommy, this album also bring to mind early PJ Harvey. Anguish is both internal and external on “Boys Will Be Boys”, a ruthless takedown of male entitlement inspired by a friend’s assault. Wit and humor are wielded deftly across the album, but not necessarily to lighten the mood. The sonics are expanded from 2018’s Thrush Metal, featuring a string section, chipper drums, and soaring harmonies. This LP is pressed on limited edition opaque olive vinyl.
