Inaugural release for Cultures of Soul's 12" disco remix series! For the first installment, COS has tapped top notch record collector and all around disco fiend Al Kent (Million Dollar Disco) to tackle a couple jazz funk gems from Stanton Davis' Ghetto Mysticism. Kent does an ace job (as expected) keeping the loft-friendly, disco vibe intact on "Things Can Not Stop Forever," while beefing up the rhythm section with a four on the floor kick drum to keep it moving. The rest of the instruments are taken from the original multi-track recordings to create a jam even more moving than the original. Impressive work to say the least! Flipside features the uptempo disco jazz number "High Jazz," also processed through the Al Kent system for maximum effect. Limited edition of 500, recommended.
