Next level smooth.Ā Following a string of sold out 12"s, NY-based labelĀ Arcane steps it up with their very first full length fromĀ Morris Mobley.Ā EnterĀ Movin' On,Ā an incredible achievement in smoothed-out house and funky jazz fusion - all penned, played, sang and recorded by that dapperĀ dudeĀ on the cover.Ā It's obvious from the first listen that Mobley is anĀ insanely talented musician. Not only is the production on point through out (gotta love all that DX-7 action), but those guitarĀ solosĀ are justĀ too nice!Ā Check theĀ title track for a taste, then get down to the amped up boogie of "Stop Playing Games," before cooling it down withĀ a steamy version ofĀ Don Blackman'sĀ "Since You Been Away."Ā The smoothness runs deep and continues with theĀ instrumental cut "Midnight Stroll," and the slickly acidic Donald FagenĀ (of Steely Dan) cover of "Glamour Profession." This thing has been inĀ heavy rotation at TTL HQ and warrants repeat listens to catch all theĀ funky intricacies. 180 gram pressing with printed inner sleeve and press photo. Recommended.
