Linval Thompson: Space Invaders (Scientist) Vinyl 2LP
Special 2016 reissue with bonus disc including all the original vocal versions with completely remastered sound!  Ya'll already know Scientist is the man. I hadn't listened to this one in a long time and when I recently put this on, I remembered why he's my all time favorite behind the boards. If you are into the early 80's dancehall sound, you will know most of the rhythms on here and freak hershey when you hear the dubs that Scientist lays on them. My favorite is "Dematerialize" where he intros the rhythm with chopped instrumentation, fades, bleeps and then a solid bassline that bangs you on the head when he finally lets the whole dub loose. The tracks are all Linval Thompson production with a few Junjo rhythms thrown in, all heavy basslines and crashing drums. Scientist was the master of letting his dubs expand on themselves and evolve into something which could really stand on its own as a track rather than just a slightly freaked instrumental version. That is why Scientist makes the nicest dubs.Â
