Russo's thought process behind the compositions: "Yes, people fight, but the overall theme is that we're all one. What could I do to embody that in music?" For the main title, he worked with a 64-piece orchestra and incorporated in elements from the original Star Trek theme. For the rest of the score, utilized 51 players, and the result is an epic soundtrack that accurately represents the series.
