Legendary drummer Jack DeJohnette teams up with the sons of two jazz greats. In Movement is a collaborative project with Ravi Coltrane (son of John Coltrane) and Matthew Garrison (son of Coltrane Quartet bassist Jimmy Garrison), and features the production efforts of longtime ECM producer Manfred Eicher. The trio looks back at history but is able to stay firmly in the present. Their takes on Coltrane's "Alabama," and "Rashied," and Earth, Wind & Fire's "Serpentine" are inspired and avoid being mired in the past. They get open on original compositions like "Two Jimmys" and DeJohnette's "Lydia." Released by ECM on double vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve.
