J Dilla: Jay Love Japan Vinyl LP
Repressed!Ā J Dilla's 4thĀ album from 2007 (2006 in Japan), which has been out-of-print for years, finally gets an official uncut pressing. Jay Love JapanĀ was one of theĀ last projects the influential producerĀ worked on before his passing. Similar in style to his masterpieceĀ Donuts,Ā these beatsĀ flip soulful samples and snippets into true works of art. It's a mostly instrumental affair, with some MC's thrown in for good measure, who don't detract at all from the vibe. Peep Ta'Raach rockingĀ mic duties on "Say It," Baatin on "First Time" with Ruckazoid, or J*Davey on "Red Light." Also includes the addictiveĀ "Believe In God," "Can't You See," and "Lucy."Ā Glad to see this get the proper release that it deserves. Recommended.
