Originally released in 2007, Death Is This CommunionĀ is the further evolution ofĀ HOF'sĀ brand of brazen sludge metal, now with Jack Endino (Soundgarden, Nirvana) replacing Steve Albini on production duties. Once again, frontman Matt Pike (former guitarist of Sleep) takes heavy inspiration from the work of H.P. Lovecraft for lyrical content in creating the dark andĀ turbidĀ atmosphere. Also worth noting thatĀ Death Is This Communion is the first HOF album to feature former Holy Terror bassist Jeff Matz. This 2018 reissue comes on swamp green with bone white splatter colored vinyl, and is limited to 1,245 copies.
