Lovebox was inspired by the nickname for the record crate in the back of their studio where they’d stash records containing potential samples and the heart-shaped post-it notes with the location of the loops scribbled on them. And there’s a lot of love in that box, inspiring the duo to move effortlessly between neon-lit house grooves (“Lovebox”), early-millenium rap rock (“Purple Haze”), ambitious downtempo (“Remember,” “Tuning In,” “Think Twice”) , cavernous broken beat (“Be Careful What You Say”) and rolling 4x4 reggae vibes (“But I Feel Good”). This deluxe edition includes a printed insert with extensive notes from Andy Cato reminiscing on the album’s creation and sharing anecdotes from the recording sessions, recalling partying with Elton John and a disarmingly non-diva Neneh Cherry showing up to the studio with nothing more than ‘a smile and a 4-pack of Red Stripe.’ Transparent blue colored double vinyl pressing housed in glossy gatefold jacket in a limited edition of 2,000 individually-numbered copies.
