Floating Points: Shadows EP Vinyl 2LP

Floating Points: Shadows EP Vinyl 2LP

2015 repress. Shadows is easily one of Sam Shepherd's finest releases, and a double EP at that! Here under the Floating Points alias, Shepherd is able to deftly fuse richly textured percussion with grooving (and soothing) melodies to take the dancefloor higher. The vibe reminds me of some of Four Tet or Caribou at times, but with more of a jazzy element that someone like Theo Parrish would appreciate. Check the sound on "Myrtle Ave," or the shuffling beats of "Realise" or "Obfuse," then get down to the sound of "ARP3" and the brilliant "Sais." Comes in gatefold sleeve. Equally effective on the floor as it is in the headphones for zoning.
