Floating Points: Reflections - Mojave Desert Vinyl LP+DVD
Sam Shepherd akaĀ Floating Points, while on tour, finished a gig in LA and decided to spend time near Joshua Tree National Park w/ his ensemble. The gang set up shop outdoors and began playing throughout the day and night. Quickly, they realized how unique of a recording environment the nature surrounding them provided, and favors were called in to have sound gear hauled into the location. Accompanied by video footage (DVD included), the tracks on Reflections - Mojave Desert are the end products of Shepherd & his band's exploration of their surroundings through their musical lens. Ambient, space-y post-rock vibes are in full effect on the LP: psychedelic sounds bits to synth wanderings and effects-drenched guitar work, the sublime compositions directly reflect the topography of the remote location. Props to Floating Points for this one, his musical range and experimental mind always impresses.
