Erol Alkan: Illumination EP 12"
For as long as Erol Alkan has been djing and producing music he's never released his own material. Illumination, the UK producer's debut EP, features three tracks of solid dancefloor material. The EP opens with "A Hold On Love," a shimmering house burner for the early AM hours. Alkan takes a turn towards acid with "Bang," all 303 and Roland percussion. One for the heads. To close things out he takes things in a hardcore breaks direction. "Check Out Your Mind" recalls the jungle of the early 90s, breaks, samples and general mentalism abound. For his first solo EP Alkan has shown that he's got many styles and can easily freak any one of them.
