Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton: Choir Of The Mind (Colored Vinyl) Vinyl 2LP
Perhaps best known as the frontwoman of Metric (she also contributes to Canadian indie rock super group Broken Social Scene), here is Emily Haines's second solo outing under the Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton moniker. Choir Of The Mind comes more than 10 years after Knives Don't Have Your Back, and although the two albums share the piano-centric musical backing, the Canadian singer/songwriter reaches for a more melancholic, downtempo-influenced style here. More importantly, however, Haines's vocals, delicate and balanced, remain the main attraction. Check out "Fatal Gift," "legend of the Wild Horse," "Wounded," and "Planets."
