Echobelly: On (Music On Vinyl 180g, Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
On is the second studio full-length from Echobelly, originally released in 1995. The British rock band, often drawing comparisons to Blondie and influenced by Morrissey (The Smiths frontman is also a fan of the group, apparently), is fronted by Sonya Madan, and her distinct, drifting vocals play a large role defining the band's sound; it's an energetic and upbeat Britpop that's contrasted by a darker underbelly upon closer inspection. Check out "Great Things," "King of the Kerb," "A Natural Animal," and "Dark Therapy. The songs are intense, melodic, and heavy on gritty rock guitar, certainly one of the more memorable Britpop projects from the mid-'90s.
