Coma: Atlantis Vinyl 12"

Coma: Atlantis Vinyl 12"

A refreshing change from Kompakt. The German label is best known for their minimal techno and left field sounds (check the excellent Pop Ambient comps), so I was a bit surprised when I heard this release from Coma. On Atlantis, Georg Conrad and Marius Bubat blur the line between vintage italo and synth-pop and contemporary indie dance, with a style that's exceedingly catchy and danceable. See what I mean on "Atlantis," then get down to the super funky grooves of "Maelstrom" and it's killer build-ups/breakdowns. Also check the vocoder-laced "Blueprint" that closes it out with a bang. Top notch import pressing with awesome pic sleeve.
