Long awaited thirdĀ studio album from Brooklyn's Beach Fossils. Somersault finds Dustin Payseur writing some of the best material of his career on his first outing away from Captured Tracks. He's traded in the post punk edge of previous albums for a sound that's indebted to the pop of the 1960s. The bright jangle pop elements are still there, but there's plenty of additional instrumentation worked into the fold. Strings weave in and out of the album, while piano pops up on more than a few tracks. It's definitely Beach Fossils' most fleshed out effort to date. Standout tracks include "This Year," "Saint Ivy," and "Down the Line." Eleven tracks in all. Released by Bayonet Records on indie exclusive red vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with digital download.
