Barrington Levy: Englishman Vinyl LP
Well, as my homey Reggae Monkey might say, FUNGOOL! Straight classic early Barrington Levy from '79, produced by Junjo at Channel One with Roots Radics, mixed by Scientist and Jammy. Massive. Start at the top, "Englishman," and you'll get a taste. Move on to "If You Give To Me," one of the top reggae sellers on 45 here at Lab, for good reason. Not convinced? Next up is "Sister Carol," a sweet bubbler on the Pass the Koutchie riddim. More fire in the form of "Look Youth Man" and the ridiculous intro of "Send A Moses" follows, before my favorite drops, the devastating "Money Makes Friends," a riff on Coco Tea's "Rocking Dolly" / Real Rock killer. Ten songs total, crisply remastered from the original tapes.
